What background checks do you run on pros?
Background checks are part of our vetting process. The canonical safety reference lives at /safety.
Who runs the checks
Checkr — PBSA-accredited and FCRA-compliant. The same provider used by major marketplace and delivery platforms. Reports are returned to Made Glow’s trust-and-safety team for review.
How disputes work
Applicants dispute background-check reports directly with Checkr through Checkr’s Candidate Portal, per the standard FCRA dispute process. If the result of a dispute is adverse, the Pro receives the FCRA-mandated notice and the path to dispute further. Made Glow follows a 5-business-day pre-adverse window before any final adverse-action decision based on a background check.
What we look at
Made Glow disqualifies based on the offenses described in our adjudication policy — such as violent felonies, sexual offenses, fraud against vulnerable populations, and active warrants. Older or non-relevant offenses are reviewed case-by-case under the EEOC’s Fair Chance guidance. We weigh how recent the offense was, the nature of the offense, the relevance to providing in-home beauty services, and any rehabilitation evidence the applicant provides. Specific Pro-level results are confidential per FCRA.
Keeping licenses current
Pros agree in the Pro Agreement to keep their license information current and to notify Made Glow promptly of any change in license status. New license events that affect a Pro’s status surface a review and may pause new bookings until resolved.
What we do NOT do
- We do not pull credit reports for screening.
- We do not check civil litigation history.
- We do not consider non-conviction arrests.
- We do not collect mental-health history.
