Are all Made Glow pros licensed?
Licensing is non-negotiable on Made Glow. The platform won't let an unlicensed person take a booking, and the verification is independent of what the pro tells us — we cross-check against the state board's record.
Required licenses by service
- Hair (cut, color, extensions, treatments) — state cosmetology license.
- Nails (mani, pedi, gel, acrylic, builder gel, art) — state nail technician license.
- Makeup — most states don't require a license for makeup-only artists, but the pro must hold one of the licenses above OR have professional certification (Make-Up Designory, Cinema Makeup School, IATSE 706, or equivalent).
- Skincare (facials, peels, dermaplane) — state esthetician license. Microneedling and chemical peels above 30% concentration may require a medical aesthetician license depending on state.
- Lashes & brows — esthetician or specialty lash/brow technician license, varies by state.
- Massage — state Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) credential. No exceptions.
How we verify
The pro enters their license number in onboarding. We check it against the issuing state board's database in real time — Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) for our launch cities. The check returns license type, status (active/suspended/expired), original issue date, and any disciplinary history. Expired or suspended licenses fail onboarding immediately.
Re-verification
Every 12 months, the platform re-runs the license check. If a pro's license has lapsed or been suspended, they're paused from accepting new bookings until it's resolved. Existing confirmed bookings are reassigned to a different pro at no charge.
Cross-state pros
A pro licensed in another state cannot take Florida bookings until they hold an active Florida-issued reciprocity or local license. We don't accept "endorsement pending" licenses. All Made Glow services require state-board-active licensure.
How to verify yourself
You can look up any Florida licensee on the Florida DBPR public lookup. Pros are required to display their license number on their Made Glow profile (it's in the "Credentials" section).
